What makes a real estate broker good or great, isn’t their statistics, their gross commission numbers, their branding, or how large their team is. Certainly, those things are what other agents and brokers evaluate when setting goals or business planning. But an agent simply cannot be great, without making that impression upon their clients. Satisfied buyers and sellers are what determines if a real estate broker is great. Numbers and data only tell part of the story, and quite frankly, it’s not necessarily the most important part. With how important the choice to buy or sell a home is, having a successful real estate practice simply is not necessarily a numbers game. At least not to me.
My adventure into real estate really began after purchasing my first home back in the Montavilla neighborhood of SE Portland, back in 2012. At the time, as an account manager in the tech industry, I fell in love with the details of the home search, financing, and buying process (a bit nerdy, I know). As a detail-oriented person, I wanted to understand even the smallest details of the process, and be able to explain them in simple terms. My solution-based tech career was a perfect launchpad into practicing real estate, particularly as a broker that focuses on client satisfaction and customer service, as well as how to integrate and leverage new technology. Simply put, this is not a one-size fits all, “always be closing” industry, at least, I don’t believe it should be. This is about evaluating individual needs, establishing personal goals, and finding solutions that satisfy each client.
Having spent 9+ years in practice, I still feel that the most important part of the career is caring about people and being a resource for education and experience. A successful real estate transaction, whether buying or selling, is the one that exceeds my client’s expectations. And that is what I strive for every day.
Now living the Mt. Tabor neighborhood, I feel privileged to see Portland change over the years, and excited that I have had some small impact in helping many people put down roots, invest in themselves and their communities, and be an advisor when questions about real estate inevitably come up. I can’t think of a more fulfilling career than this one.
I’d be honored to help you too, just give me a call!
